Practical Assessment: Ride On Roller Operator
by David Smith, from the Community
Evaluate and document the competency of a ride on roller operator with a practical assessment checklist. Capture operator details and credentials, verify PPE, and complete pre-start checks on drums, engine bay, fluid levels, and instrumentation. Observe safe operation including traveling at appropriate speed, consolidating ground, responding to banksman signals, stopping and holding position, and correct shutdown and disembark using three points of contact. Confirm maintenance knowledge such as fluid checks, greasing points, and refueling at end of shift. Record competency outcomes, training needs, and obtain signatures for sign-off.
