Knife River Midwest Stormwater Inspection Checklist
by Brooke Muhlack, from the Community
This stormwater inspection checklist supports Knife River Midwest teams in meeting SWPPP and permit obligations. Inspectors can log inspection type and dates, precipitation or snowmelt events, duration and rainfall estimates, and time since the previous event. The form guides a site walkthrough to identify deleterious materials at outfalls and discharge points, including sediment deposits, oil sheen, foam, trash, rock fines, berm erosion, and petroleum-contaminated parts. It verifies controls such as silt fences, berms, wattles, drain protection, spill containment, vegetated berms, dust and turbidity suppression, and that BMPs are functional and not over capacity. It also checks non-stormwater discharges, fueling and maintenance areas, housekeeping, and street tracking. Findings and corrective actions can be recorded with notes and media, followed by acknowledgment and signature for compliance records.
