Heat Hazard Assessment Checklist with WBGT
by Daniel Oswald, from the Community
Use this Heat Hazard Assessment to evaluate environmental and work factors that drive heat stress risk on site. Capture temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar irradiance, then apply WBGT to determine risk level. Take multiple readings across the day, including start of shift and after breaks. Document controls that match the rating, such as hydration, shade, work rest cycles, supervision, and emergency response. Avoid relying only on heat index, which omits wind, radiant heat, clothing, and exertion. Designed for field teams to standardize checks and reduce heat related illness.
