Asbestos Removal Contractors Audit Checklist
by Richard Tungate, from the Community
This asbestos audit checklist helps housing and property teams evaluate the compliance and performance of removal contractors. It covers documentation and certifications including asbestos and waste carrier licenses, insurance, personnel medical and training records, and plant certificates. Planning checks include NNLW notification to the HSE, suitable risk assessments, and appropriate PPE and RPE. Site setup and operations include decontamination unit and enclosure needs, negative pressure units, first aid and fire readiness, correct use and storage of RPE, housekeeping, access equipment, isolations, wetting of asbestos containing materials, and secure double bagging and wrapping of waste. The form concludes with non conformance review and sign off by the auditor and site supervisor.
