Clearvision Underground Service Locating Assessment
by Joseph Stevens, from the Community
This underground service locating assessment checklist helps supervisors evaluate technician competency before excavation or cable identification work. It covers reading utility plans, correct marking colors, recognizing unlisted services, CAT4 locator and transmitter operation (induction clamp, direct connection, broadcast), receiver modes, prestart checks, PPE, traffic management, and site setup. It also verifies JSA and SWMS completion, hazard identification and controls, tool condition, calibration, route marking, and pilot holes. Use it to document training, sign-offs, and revalidation dates.
