Use this field survey checklist to monitor PAWS and Ancient Woodland features. Capture site details, NVC type, woodland structure, stand notes, regeneration species and barriers, invasive species, browsing and grazing damage, pests and diseases, soil disturbance, and water feature condition. Assess remnant features such as specialist flora, deadwood, relic native trees, archaeology, and other notable elements. Define restoration priorities, map work proposals, protection and fencing, and timescales. Attach maps and photos, document methods and results, and finalize with surveyor signature.
