Organic Inspection Checklist

This sample organic inspection checklist helps farms and processors prepare for organic certification by verifying complete and accurate records across crop, livestock, and handling operations. Assess input receipts and application logs, harvest and sales records, seed tags, equipment clean-out and compost documentation, and storage records. For livestock, review animal identification, health inputs, feed documentation, and slaughter records. For handling and processing, confirm QA plans such as HACCP or GMP, audit trails, cleaning and sanitation logs, water testing, pest control, MSDS, ingredient and label documentation, and current organic certificates. Use the checklist to flag non-compliance items and assign corrective actions ahead of the audit.
