Improving health and safety systems
Health and safety in the construction industry is a serious issue. In 2017, there were 54 fatalities in the UK construction industry alone. This is part of the reason Pochin Construction believe driving a culture of safety is critical to their business.
Pochin Construction used to complete site inspections and audits using a paper tick sheet. The data from the inspections were then collated and input into a spreadsheet. This was an extremely time consuming and laborious process. And some sites were simply not completing all the required inspections. With the lack of inspections occurring, Pochins had loads of incomplete data, which caused a serious lack of visibility across their distributed sites.
As industry leaders in health and safety, Pochins wanted to improve the culture and safety of all the staff and workers on their sites. The existing process really did not lend itself to this goal or drive improvements in its health and safety systems.
